My Biker Bodyguard
J. R. TURNER
Dirty Dan–owner of a tattoo parlor/motorcycle repair shop–is
protective of his daughter, Jess Owen. He shields her from the bikers
who'd love to date her and from a secret about her estranged mother.
When Mitch Conner is invited to stay at Dan and Jess's home, she has no
idea the "Hunk-o-rama" arrived to act as her bodyguard. Someone wants
Jess killed–thanks to that secret. Bullets from the bad guys fly toward
Jess at a local George Webb, where it's hard to tell who bodyguards
whom. To Mitch's surprise–and relief–Jess proves a dead shot with a
pistol. But the danger is too great in Milwaukee. Dirty Dan allows
Mitch to take Jess her mother's home in Los Angeles. Freed from her
dad's watchful eye, romance blossoms between Jess and Mitch–that is,
when they're not skirting the danger that continues to surround her.
Turner's slam-bam writing style perfectly suits this action filled
romance. She nails the outlaw biker lifestyle and shows the subcultures
softer side by allowing us to understand that, no matter how roughhewn,
it's a rare biker who doesn't possess a fierce love for their family.
And Turner heats the romance aspect until it boils over with passion.

My Biker Bodyguard
J. R. TURNER
Jess works with her father in a tattoo parlor/motorcycle shop.
Tattooing people since the age of sixteen, she is now the best in the
shop. However, she has virtually no social life. When Jess was six
years old her mother abandoned her. Since then her father has been very
protective of her, going so far now as to discourage possible suitors.
Mitch, a body guard from LA and also a suspect in the eyes of the FBI,
has been sent to protect Jess. Unbeknownst to her, she is in line to
inherit a lot of money. Jess’ mother, Beth, has been shot and is in a
coma. Just prior to going into a coma, she sent Mitch to protect her
daughter, who is also in danger.
After shots are fired at Jess, she starts taking the situation more
seriously. Feeling that her family would be safer without being around
her, she agrees to go to LA with Mitch. In LA, she stays at her
mother’s home with her stepfather as well as Mitch and two FBI men, who
trail her everywhere. Complicating matters are the feelings developing
between Jess and Mitch. Who is behind the shooting? Why would anyone
want her dead? Will her mother recover from the coma and give Jess a
chance to find out why she abandoned her? Could she have a relationship
with Mitch?
Suspense kept me reading J.R. Turner’s intrigue-filled novel. I enjoyed
reading MY BIKER BODYGUARD. The colorful secondary characters and
clever dialogue add to the story. I look forward to future novels by
this author. I recommend MY BIKER BODYGUARD for anyone who enjoys a
sensual, suspense-filled story.

Dark Phantom Review
Featuring a sympathetic heroine, a brave hero, and enough romance and suspense to keep you turning those pages, My Biker Bodyguard is a novel that will be thoroughly enjoyed by lovers of this genre.
Jess Owens leads a quiet, routine life helping her biker father at his tattoo shop. Having been abandoned by her mother at a young age, Jess is very close to her father, who is overly protective towards her. However, Jess’ life is suddenly turned upside down after a mysterious and handsome man, Mitch, shows up at her doorstep. Even though he claims to be a bodyguard sent here to protect her, she tries her best to keep away from his seemingly dangerous and alluring charms. The truth about his presence here stuns her, even more so because her father knew the reason all along but never told her. As her life becomes increasingly in peril, she is put in a position where she must leave to California with Mitch and two FBI agents. Soon she finds herself in a totally foreign, alien world, for not only does she discovers that she’s immensely rich, but also that her long-lost mother is there in a coma. Who wants Jess dead? Why? Can she possibly trust Mitch to protect her life?
The writing is engaging and Turner manages to maintain a good level of suspense throughout the story. The tension between the hero and heroine sparks from the beginning and achieves a spine-tingling climax, leading to a satisfying conclusion. I found the heroine original in the sense that she’s been brought up in a world of leather-clad, long-haired, tattooed, dangerous-looking characters. Turner shows us a different, refreshing perspective from the world of bikers. The romance scenes are handled with tact and subtlety and are sweet and steamy at the same time. Fans of romantic suspense will find in My Biker Bodyguard a joyful and interesting ride.

Nights and Weekends Review
Jess Owen was raised by bikers most of her life. She never knew her mother, and she tries to forget that she ever had one. However, thoughts of abandonment continue to haunt her. After dreadful years in foster care, her father, an ex-con who’s now clean and sober, obtained custody. Now, at twenty-two, she’s still with her dad, better known as Dirty Dan, spending her days working as a tattoo artist at his motorcycle shop/tattoo parlor in Milwaukee.
A clean-cut, well-built stranger comes to the shop, claiming to be an old friend of her father. Dirty Dan welcomes him, but this guy, Mitch, isn’t the biker type, and Jess knows there’s something these two are keeping from her. He proceeds to follow her everywhere—and so does the sexual chemistry. But Jess refuses to be kept in the dark. Dan won’t talk, so she finds another way to get to the truth.
She pulls Mitch into her 1967 Mustang and weaves in and out of traffic until she reaches her usual diner. As they dig into their pancakes, Mitch sees trouble. He slams her down to protect her as gunshots shatter the window. Why does someone want him dead? She soon learns that it’s not Mitch they want. It’s her. After all, she’s in line to inherit one hundred and fifty million dollars!
How could her drug-addicted mother be worth that much? Apparently, this is the fourth hit against one of her family members, and her mother is in a coma in a Los Angeles hospital. Mitch persuades her and the FBI that she’d be safer at her mother’s home (I mean, estate) in L.A. He and Jess board a plane, as she leaves Dirty Dan for the first time.
Bombshells explode as additional motives and suspects surface. If that isn’t enough, Jess is forced to deal with unresolved emotional issues—and the possibility that her father may have been keeping the truth from her.
My Biker Bodyguard is a great book for women who enjoy their action thrillers laced with intense romance and complete conflict resolution. The story is strong and fast-paced, and it kept my interest. However, the ending was a let-down. The main problem was that the author took great pains to develop most of her characters—except for Mitch. Since I didn’t know him, I really didn’t care what happened to him. Her fatal mistake, though, was to assume that her readers lacked any maturity or life experience. There could have been a number of other “happy endings” for Jess, but the one that the author chose seemed to take the least amount of thought. Or maybe she’s intentionally opening the door for a sequel, where the real-life conflicts will begin.

Jess Owen has been taking care of her father and his friends for several years. It’s a hard job to keep the bikers out of trouble. She also is co-owner of a tattoo parlor as well as a motorcycle repair shop. She is one tough broad that does not take anyone’s garbage. Things are going along fine until Mitch shows up on her doorstep with the news that her estranged mother has been shot and that he is here to protect her from impending danger.
Mitch Conner is a reformed man. He has walked away from the life he had with the mob and is now a PI helping the LAPD find a crazed man determined to eliminate the next in line to a family fortune. Mitch feels he let his client down as she was shot and he has vowed to protect her daughter at all costs. But can he concentrate on his job when he begins to get closer to Jess?
Jess is not happy about the lengths she has to go in order to be safe, away from the killer’s line of fire. Mitch must convince her that he and the others are just trying to keep her safe and catch this guy before anyone else gets hurt. He also has given Jess a rare opportunity to see the mother that once abandoned her. Jess wants to meet her but can she hear the whole story and forgive her mother?
My Biker Bodyguard is a suspenseful read filled with non-stop action that will keep the reader entertained through out the story. Mitch and Jess prove to be two characters that are a force to be reckoned with. Their pairing as a couple is a stroke of pure genius by Ms.Turner. The ties and relationships formed between two characters infuses real life into this story. If you are a romantic that loves suspense in your read then My Biker Bodyguard is for you.

Jess is leading a surprisingly sheltered life running her father’s motorcycle repair shop and tattoo parlor, but who would challenge the bodyguards she has running around the place? She has been living with her father since he got out of prison when she was eleven. Her mother had abandoned her at age six and she was in foster care since then. Though she misses her mother she tries not to think too much about her. That is until Mitch comes to town. He claims that she is next in line to inherit 150 million dollars, and far from being a junkie loser, her mother has cleaned up her act and taken over the family business, that is until someone shot her and put her in a coma. Until the shooter is caught, Mitch will be around. The attraction between the two is a definite bonus.
I really enjoyed this story. The author uses an unusual setting and quirky characters to create a very suspenseful romance. The contrast between the lifestyles of Jess’s two parents could not be any greater, but the scary bikers were definitely a warmer and more loving family than she found in California. The bikers are very colorful and I really enjoyed reading about them. The house in California is in contrast rather cold and orderly, much like Jess’s stepfather Jared. The romance between Mitch and Jess is very hot and develops quickly despite both of them fighting the attraction. The two FBI agents were easy to dislike, as was Jess’s ex boyfriend, the cop Jake. The suspense builds and builds until the surprising climax and satisfying ending. Fans of romantic suspense should definitely read this creative take on the genre.

When Mitch arrives at their bike repair/tattoo shop, Jess Owen doesn’t buy his or her father’s story for a minute. They say Mitch is an old friend of her father’s, but Jess knows better. She is sure that Mitch is bad news and is determined to get him out of their lives as soon as possible.
Mitch was hired to protect Jess from a deadly enemy. However, her father refuses to let Mitch tell Jess why he is there because he never told Jess the truth that her mother is not only alive and well, living in California but is also a rich heiress worth $150 million. Now someone wants Jess and her mother dead.
Hold on to your seats…umm…sissy bar. MY BIKER BODYGUARD is a wild ride. This reader was intrigued with the character of Jess, a biker babe that isn’t really a biker babe. Jess gives tattoos but doesn’t sport a body full of them herself. Her and her father own a bike repair shop, but she drives a vintage supped up Ford Mustang. What a combination. She is her father’s daughter, headstrong and stubborn. When she finally discovers the truth it isn’t because her dad sat her down and had a heart to heart talk with her. It is because she has killed a man in a shoot out and her and Mitch have been arrested. Gotta love that!
Author J.R. Turner has done a remarkable job in giving details that make this book believable. The names of the friends that hang out at the bike shop, J.D., Trash, and Tiny not to mention Jess’s father Dirty Dan. This reader felt that she was really in a biker’s hangout. Then we are taken to a plush California mansion. Talk about one extreme to the other, and it is done smoothly and credibly.
MY BIKER BODYGUARD did have one flaw however. This reader was able to figure out whom the mastermind behind the murder attempts fairly early on. Once Mitch and Jess got to California in fact. Oh well, can’t have everything. But still, MY BIKER BODYGUARD is a great read and highly amusing. This reader will not be forgetting the character of Jess anytime soon.
